We are delighted to confirm that the fourth Yalta Memorial Speech will be delivered by the Rt Hon David Lidington MP, Minister for Europe at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Minister’s talk is entitled “Britain and Ukraine – Partners for Reform”, covering both political and economic issues and how the UK can support Ukraine as it moves to reform not only its economy (in line with DCFTA negotiations) but also its politics. Before the 2010 General Election, the Rt Hon David Lidington MP was the Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs and has also held positions including Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Opposition Spokesman for the Home Office, Parliamentary Private Secretary to the then Leader of the Opposition, the Rt Hon William Hague MP and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the then Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Michael Howard QC.
Prior to entering Parliament, Mr Lidington worked for BP and RTZ before spending three years as Special Advisor to Douglas Hurd in the Home Office and Foreign Office.
