Ukrainian Literary Club - Saturday morning coffee
The Next meeting of the Ukrainian Literary Club will take place on Saturday, March 24th at 11.00AM at the Ukrainian Institute in London.
We will be discussing the Kapranov brothers’Diary of my Secretary (Ùîäåííèê ì ñåêðåòàðêè), the latest novel by the renowned Ukrainian contemporary authors.
Diary of my Secretary is a psychological novel, based on real life events intertwined with fictional characters. Any resemblances and similarities to real contemporary Ukrainians are left to the reader to decide.
The book’s central character, a representative of the so-called ‘Ukrainian elite’, seems to have it all: a successful political career, a prosperous business, wealth, government related kickbacks, a beautiful TV presenter wife, mistresses…
Everything seems hunky-dory for the lucky chap until things start turning dreadfully sour with business and political redistribution during the hot summer of 2004…
In this latest novel the Kapranov brothers try to demonstrate contemporary Ukraine as they see it.
The Kapranov brothers, Vitaliy and Dmytro, are renowned contemporary Ukrainian authors. The twins are widely recognised throughout Ukrainian literary and political circles due to their writings and publishing activities in support of Ukrainian literature.
If you would like to attend the meeting, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you a PDF electronic version of the book, which we kindly received from the authors.
