Svitlana Pyrkalo

Svitlana Pyrkalo, a London-based Ukrainian writer and columnist, explores the world of Ukrainian literature of the last decade. As a curator of the prestigious BBC Book of the Year prize, now held in partnership with the EBRD Cultural Programme, Svitlana Pyrkalo has extensive knowledge of trends, successes and failures of modern Ukrainian prose. From the self-searching literature of 2000s to historical novels about UPA of the 2010s, Ms Pyrkalo has read it all and is ready to tell it like it is.
