Ukraine Ranks 3rd in Lonely Planet's Top 10 Countries to Visit in 2012

Ukraine has been ranked in the top 3 countries to visit in 2012 by Lonely Planet, the largest travel guide book and digital media publisher in the world. The publication, owned by BBC Worldwide, has presented its list of the top 10 countries for 2012 – in ranked order – voted for by a panel of in-house travel experts, based on ‘topicality, excitement, value and that special X-factor.’

The top 10 list has ‘collated hundreds of ideas from everyone at Lonely Planet, including the extended family of travellers, bloggers and tweeters to work out the very best.’

Lonely Planet describes Ukraine as the ‘the great unknown of Europe.’

‘It is wonderful that, despite all the pessimistic news coming out of Ukraine created by the country’s politicians, the world’s leading travel guide book has listed Ukraine as the top 3 destination to visit in 2012. We are definitely seeing increased interest to the country, especially ahead of the upcoming Euro 2012 finals to be co-hosted by Ukraine next June & July,’ commented Andy Hunder, Director of the Ukrainian Institute in London.
