UKs popular magazine for women ranks Ukraine as a top 10 best travel destination for 2012

Ukraine has been selected as a top 10 best travel destination for 2012 by Stylist, a free weekly magazine for women that is published in the United Kingdom.

In its latest edition the publication states that ‘as Kiev is hosting the (Euro 2012 football championship) final on 1 July, the buzz will continue here all summer. The Ukrainian capital comes alive when the sun glints on the golden domes of its churches. They have a rich history: the cathedral of St Sophia has mosaics and frescoes dating back to the 11th century, while the ancient mummified monks in the crypts of the Kiev Caves Monastery are just as memorable.’

The article continues: ‘But don’t limit yourself to Kiev – Lviv is a beautiful place known as “the Florence of the East”. Its varied architecture, with renaissance, baroque, rococo and neoclassical styles all rubbing up next to each other, makes it a fascinating destination, and sitting with a coffee or beer in a town-square cafe, tucking into a bowl of borscht or nibbling on a pastry, while watching the world roll by, is a treat. In either city, you won’t need help  finding somewhere to eat, drink or play.’

‘Following Ukraine’s inclusion in the top 10 countries to visit by the Lonely Planet guide last November,  it is nice to see a UK publication targeted at affluent females in the UK rank Ukraine as one of the best destinations to visit in 2012. Although the upcoming Euro 2012 football championships are targeted more at a male audience, many females will also be able to enjoy the wonderful non-football related opportunities that the country has to offer,’ commented Andy Hunder, Director of the Ukrainian Institute in London.

Stylist magazine targets affluent 20 to 40-year-old female commuters with high end content that includes fashion, travel, beauty, people and careers news. The magazine ‘aims to take an intelligent approach, covering a broader range of culture and tackling issues women face in their professional and personal lives.’ The publication has an average distribution of 424,107 copies per week.
