Financial Times’ Yuri Bender holds talk on Ukrainian Football, Finance and National Identity
Yuri Bender, Editor-in-Chief, Professional Wealth Management, Financial Times, held a talk entitled Ukrainian Football, Finance and National Identity on February 28th, 2012 at the Ukrainian Institute in London.
Yuri recently returned from a trip to Ukraine where he conducted more than 25 interviews with prominent political, business and football leaders for an article published in December’s edition of the FT’s Wealth magazine on preparations for Euro 2012.
The speech focused on latest Euro 2012 developments, whether Ukraine is ready to host the event, provided inside views on the current state of football in Ukraine, the money in the game, and the national identity of Ukrainians today.
Yuri, a British-born Ukrainian journalist, regularly writes for the Financial Times newspaper and has been specialising in investment topics for more than 20 years. He joined the Financial Times group in 1992 and has launched and edited three international magazines since then. He chairs panel discussions on financial and political themes in many countries, including China, Singapore, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Ukraine.
He studied Politics & Economics in Manchester and Investment Management at the London Business School. Yuri is on the Consistory of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the UK.
