Glass Half-Full or Half-Empty?

Yevhen Hlibovytsky will discuss Ukraine’s future and what further steps could be taken in order to make the country prosperous. Mr. Hlibovytsky will discuss such issues as the particularities of Ukrainian culture, drawing on historical facts to explain the current state of affairs, and the difficulty for political society to form a bond of trust with the public, enabling a set of rules binding for society as a whole.

This talk will be moderated by Marina Pesenti, Director, Ukrainian Institute London. It will be followed by a Q&A and a wine reception.

Yevhen Hlibovytsky

Yevhen Hlibovytsky is a member of Nestor Group, an interdisciplinary expert group, which looks into long-term development issues for Ukraine. He is also a founder of pro.mova a think tank and a consultancy, which researches how culture impacts institutions in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Previously he was a journalist. In 2002, he became one of the leaders of journalists’ resistance against censorship in Ukraine. In 2013, Hlibovytsky was one of the founders of hromadske.tv, an important online media during and after Maidan in Ukraine. Hlibovytsky serves as a supervisory board member of the newly created Public Service Broadcast in Ukraine and advises major civil society organisations in Ukraine. He also teaches at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Ukrainian Catholic University.
