Reigning WBC heavyweight champion and leader of the UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) political party, Vitaly Klitschko will give a talk at the Ukrainian Institute London on March 25. The recently established Ukrainian political party UDAR (an acronym that literally translates as ‘punch’) won 40 seats in Ukraine’s parliament in last October’s elections. According to the latest opinion polls, Klitschko is the leading candidate to win the upcoming presidential elections in 2015. Klitschko will discuss politics, corruption, and the possibilities that could be opened up by reform in post-socialist transition states.

Vitali Klitschko

Vitali Klitschko is a Ukrainian boxer and politician. He is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion with a career record of 45 wins and 2 losses. He is the leader of UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) and in December 2012 was elected to the Verkhovna Rada. Klitschko has combined his careers in boxing and politics for a number of years, having previously served on Kyiv City Council. He holds PhD in sports science.
