Viktor Yushchenko served as President of Ukraine from 2005 to 2010. President Yushchenko was elected on the back of the Orange Revolution of 2004-05. Prior to this, Yushchenko was the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine from 1993 to 1999, after which he served as Prime Minister from 1999 to 2001 under President Kuchma. After leaving office, Yuschenko was elected to the Verkhovna Rada, he remained a People's Deputy until his election to the Presidency in 2005 following a re-run of the Presidential Election run-off due to widespread electoral fraud. Mass protest against the election fraud led to the Orange Revolution, which Yushchenko played a key role in.
