Communist coverups: parallels between Chornobyl & Covid-19

Date and time:

Wednesday 24 November, 2021
19:00 - 20:30

Location:

Even though more than three decades have passed since the great coverup attempt of the world’s worst nuclear power station accident at Chornobyl, communist regimes are using the same tactics today to conceal the truth and unleash repression on whistleblowers.

In his new book, Digital Pandemic, global affairs analyst and CNN Opinion contributor Michael Bociurkiw draws astonishing parallels between the handling of the Chornobyl and Covid-19 disasters. Despite the passage of time, similar strategies used to cover up Chornobyl - deception, incompetence, and repression - were used by the Chinese Communist Party in 2020 during the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak in Hubei province.

In this talk, Bociurkiw will explain the similarities, evaluate the Ukrainian government’s current handling of the deadly coronavirus outbreak - and offer exclusive future gazing on the ‘new normal’ which lies ahead.

The event will be followed by a networking reception with wine and refreshments (sponsored by Gardabani Wines/Gardabani Group and Askaneli). There will also be a chance to purchase copies of Digital Pandemic: How Technology Went From Bad to Good by the author.

You can purchase tickets at the door if places are available. To avoid disappointment, book your ticket in advance.
