Can Europe sever its dependence on Russian gas to save Ukraine?

As Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine is becoming increasingly destructive, triggering global alarm over possible nuclear attacks, Western leaders have been looking to end the invasion by adopting broad-sweeping sanctions.

However, they stopped short of punishing Russia’s biggest source of revenue, its oil and gas industry, fearing the measures would backfire against European energy consumers.

Time is now running out to save millions of lives and there is only one question that is becoming increasingly pertinent: Can Europe sever its dependence on Russian gas to save Ukraine and if so how?
