Istoria: an online course in Ukrainian history

9 March – 27 April 2023


This online course is for anyone who is interested in Ukrainian history. The course will discuss contested historical issues from the legacy of Kyivan Rus to contemporary perceptions of the Donbas. It will examine the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-21, the Holodomor, and the Second World War, looking at questions of individual survival, collective resistance, and national culture.  

Each seminar will be delivered by an expert in the field of Ukrainian history. All reading materials will be made available to students enrolled on the course. No prior knowledge of the Ukrainian language or history is required to enrol on this course. Those who attend all seminars will receive a certificate of completion.
